Stethoscopes & Stockings
It’s 1984 and everyone is gathered at St Egberts Hospital in Leeds for the opening of the new women’s ward. Jeremy Backhand, MP, is there to cut the ribbon along with Bill Bodgitt from Bodgitt & Son Builders, many of the doctors and nurses and, of course, the local press. Moments before the ceremony is due to begin a loud scream is heard. The body of Dan D’eath, the young but eminent gynaecologist has been discovered in the board room.
Has he been murdered? Who killed him?

The guest list includes:
JEREMY BACKHAND: MP and close friend of Bill Bodgitt. Well known for his squeaky clean image, pinstripe suits and striped shirts. He is a pipe smoker and wears his spectacles on the end of his nose and looks over them. He carries a folio case under his arm.
DIZZY BIMBO: She is the current girlfriend of Dan D’eath and ex wife of MP Jeremy. Very glamorous blonde who loves gold clothing, jewellery and accessories. She is never seen without her fur coat.
BILL BODGITT: Builder of the new ward. Round and cuddly with extremely bad dress sense. His loud suits always clash with his bright shirts and comedy ties. His hair always needs brushing and he is keen to tell you his latest jokes. He is very jealous of his wife.
BETTIE BODGITT: She is in her forties but dresses very young . She is known for spending her husband Bill’s money on garish and ridiculous outfits. She wears the same colour from head to toe and loves bright reds and pinks, often together. Her favourite drink is gin and the more she has the more she flirts with any available man .
TIM PERATURE: Young male doctor with a very large chip on his shoulder. He thinks he is better than his colleagues and does not have many friends. When he is nervous or excited he develops a stutter. He is a bit of a loner and always carries his walkman. He arrives at the party in his white doctors coat.
SUZIE SLAPPA: She is the staff nurse on duty so she is also in uniform. All the patients love her friendly and fussy ways. She always takes on extra work and finds it hard to say no especially to certain doctors. She is dating one of her colleagues and is devastated by Dan’s death.
WILLY WHINO: Local journalist who is always looking for the BIG STORY so he can pay off all his debts and run away to the sun. He is a scruffy character who is always touching his beard and moustache. He often loses things and can be found constantly searching for his keys or notepad.
SALLY STARCH: Prim and prudish nursing sister, who is very loyal to the NHS. She comes to the party straight from the ward so she is in her uniform. She wears stockings and Basque underneath ready for her evening job.
